Frequently Asked Questions

Can drones shoot nighttime photos?

That's the right answer. It's something we have been doing for years. We've been taking pictures at night for decades.

There's one problem. Night photography requires special equipment. You can't do it with a camera that costs less then $10k.

A series of wavelengths are created when light hits an object.

These wavelengths merge to form white light at long distances from source.

This is why our eyes can see colors even though the sun is millions of miles away.

The opposite is true. When light strikes an object very close to its source it reflects in narrow wavelengths. These wavelengths bounce back directly to us without any overlap.

This means that objects are brighter if they are closer together. This is why objects glow under black light.

The amount of light reflected depends on how much energy the object absorbs. If light hits an object, it may reflect less red light than more blue.

Blue light is the most visible to the human eye, so objects will appear more blue if they are seen under black light.

So what does this have to do with drones? You need a bright light source if you want to photograph dark objects, such as caves or forests.

A normal lamp won't provide enough light to illuminate the entire scene. You will get a shadowed image, nothing more.

A strobe will give you a great shot. A small flashgun is better than a big one, as you don't need it.

These lights are called speedlights due to the fact that they produce flashes light so fast, they can create a stroboscopic effect.

You can see the light pulse across your screen when we say "stroboscopic". The better the quality of the image, the faster it is.

This tutorial will not cover how to install a Speedlight. However, there are numerous tutorials online.

We will tell you that to capture a clear picture, you must ensure that the subject is illuminated evenly.

For this to happen, aim the beam at 45°. The flashgun can be moved to adjust the intensity of the light.

Once you have set the setting that is right for you, hold the gun steady as the shutter release button is pressed.

Once the flash has reached the subject's area, press the shutter yet again. This will set off the flashgun to start a second burst.

The subject will be illuminated by the first burst. The second burst will capture that moment.

The result is a continuous exposure where both bursts of light are recorded.

Now that we know how to capture images during the daylight, let's learn how to do night photography.

I've covered everything you need about night photography.

The color balance is the last thing we need to address.

Most people assume that all images taken at nights will be too dark.

This is true even for daytime images.

It doesn't really matter if you take photos at dawn or dusk, the camera will always capture a darker image.

Is it possible to make money from drone photography?

For photographers trying to make money with drones, the biggest problem is that there aren’t any products that can solve the problems associated with them. You can enjoy the experience by using quality equipment and software.

Insurance costs and liability are another concern. Most photographers prefer to photograph from the ground. However, there is an entirely new way to take pictures that can potentially earn you a commission.

Drones capture light in a similar way to video cameras. So why not use the same technology to create amazing photos?

Companies have already made great strides to create photo-quality images from above. We've spoken before about DJI and GoPro. We're seeing more companies in the space.

Even though these cameras are designed for aerial photography, they are pretty good on the ground. All the major manufacturers are investing heavily to develop their imaging technologies.

This means you can eventually buy a drone which shoots 4K videos, and takes amazing photographs. This may be happening already. Companies like DJI have been releasing higher-resolution versions of their Phantom series of drones.

DJI's Inspire 2 recently came out with a 12-megapixel sensor, capable of shooting at 5120x3456 Pixels. The Inspire 2 can also be used to record RAW files at 30 frames/second.

You can certainly make money from drone photos.

Where are the best places to take photos with a drone?

Drones have become extremely useful tools for capturing breathtaking images of nature and landscapes. Whether you want close-up shots of animals like birds and butterflies or to capture beautiful scenery, drones are ideal.

You can use drones in the most beautiful places: mountains, deserts. Drone enthusiasts enjoy taking stunning photos of their surroundings and other local attractions.

It is a good idea to shoot at night so that the lights can illuminate the surrounding area. This allows you to see new places. It is also possible to shoot in other seasons, such as winter, when snow covers the ground.

How much money do drone photographers make?

A photographer could make more or less than $10k depending upon how long he/she is flying for and where he/she takes photos. Photographers who work in remote areas, such as forests or national parks, could make upwards of $20-30 per hour.

An average person is paid $15-$25 an hr in retail. That means you could fly drones for $50-$75 if that's what you desire. However, there are also plenty of opportunities to earn even more. Most drone pilots fly for companies that require them travel throughout the country, or internationally.

The cost of a flight can vary depending on how much time you spend flying and how far you travel. It can quickly add up, but if your passion is photography and flying, this may be worth it.

How To

Tips for Beginners: How to Take Amazing Drone Photos

Here are some tips for great drone photos

  1. It is important to have enough space to safely fly your drone. Keep it away form trees, buildings, and power lines.
  2. Before you fly, ensure you know exactly where you are! Drone flying can be dangerous. You could end up in danger if you don't know the exact location of your flight.
  3. Remember to be safe when you fly! To see what's around you, always keep your drone close by. Flying at night or during poor weather conditions (like heavy rainfall) is not a good idea.
  4. Bring extra batteries if you plan to do long flights. Extra batteries should always be on hand. This way, you won't run out of juice mid-flight.
  5. Use top quality lenses. Higher resolutions will produce clearer pictures. A camera lens with a low resolution, such the one found on most smartphones, may blur the image.
  6. Start small. You can start by making short videos as you learn to fly the drone. After feeling confident with these, you can go on to making longer videos.
  7. Avoid using your drone indoors. Drones should not be used indoors. They can cause damage and destruction to furniture and walls.
  8. Practice makes perfect! You can do many things with your drone. You can use your drone to capture different angles on the same scene. Fly outside to practice your flying skills.
