Out and about at night in the rain in Tokyo, Japan. Easily one of my favourite ways to take photos, but also the most challenging way, for sure!
Join us as we explore Shinjuku at night in the rain and get absolutely drenched head to toe. Honestly, it was drizzling light all day when I decided I wanted to go out, but it somehow just poured it down in a dramatic fashion.

Look at the 3 best drones on Amazon while they're on sale
Drone photography is more than just flying a camera. Planning and executing a successful drone shoot requires a lot of considerations. From finding the right location to getting enough insurance, a successful drone shoot is possible.
It is important to check that you have permission for drones to be flown in the area where you intend to shoot. It is important to find out if there any restrictions on the areas you can fly in and where your drone may be used. If there are, you may need to apply for a license to fly them in these areas.
You should also check which regulations are in place in your particular country. Some countries require permits to fly drones, while others limit the number of flights you can make within a set period.
In addition to obtaining permission to fly drones, you'll need to find somewhere safe and secure to land your drone after each flight. You can often rent a landing pad from local businesses, which will charge you per hour and provide you with storage space. Or, you can buy a dedicated landing area.
Before you begin shooting, you must decide on the type of drone you want. Different drones are equipped with different capabilities. Fixed-wing drones tend not to be as expensive and are easier to operate, while multirotor drones can be more stable and powerful.
Once you decide which type of drone is best for you, the next step is to determine what equipment you will need. The basic equipment for a drone camera is a remote controller, gimbal, batteries, memory cards, and remote controller.
The gimbal helps stabilize the camera in flight. It makes it simple to take sharp images and not worry about losing the device. To ensure the drone stays stable, the gimbal attaches to its body.
Remote controllers enable you to pilot your drone remotely. These controllers have joysticks and buttons, which allow you to control the drone's direction, speed, direction, and altitude.
The drone's motors are powered by batteries, and the cameras have memory cards that store images taken by the drone. You'll need enough battery power to ensure clear pictures.
Once you've selected the equipment you'll need, you'll need to figure out where you'll shoot. Do you plan to take photos outdoors or indoors? Are you going to photograph architecture or landscapes instead? What are you planning to shoot? All these factors influence the way you need to prepare for your shoot.
If you plan to shoot indoors, lighting is an important consideration. The best way to light a room is by using multiple lights. You can place one large, centrally located light above your subject and another in the middle of the room. A third is closer to the floor.
Wind conditions are an important consideration when you are outdoors. Drone pilots could be affected by windy days, as they can be blown off track. You should always take off only when the weather is calm.
Consider whether additional equipment such as stands or tripods is necessary when you select your location. These items will help you keep your drone level stable, so you don't lose quality shots.
An outdoor shoot should be between 10 am to 4 pm. During this time, there won't be too many people around, but there will still be enough light to create great photos.
A drone photographer is not just fun. They are also extremely useful for creating stunning aerial photos. By following some simple steps, you can start creating amazing images today!
Drones have been a very useful tool in capturing stunning shots of nature. Drones are perfect for both close-up shots and stunning photos of wildlife like butterflies and birds.
Drones are best used in mountains, deserts and other locations such as beaches, cities, oceans, rivers, and lakes. Many drone enthusiasts capture stunning views of their local areas and other attractions.
If you want to see new places, it is worth shooting at night as the lights illuminate the surroundings. You can also try shooting during different seasons, especially winter, when snow blankets the ground.
Practice is key to flying a drone. Although drones are much more stable than regular aircraft, pilots still need to get experience. We recommend that you practice indoors, or close to your house, for beginners.
To fly a drone you will need to have three fundamental skills. These skills include hovering, taking off and landing.
Take off
The drone will take off by simply being lifted into the air. You can do this by pressing the button on controller until the drone begins moving upward. Once the drone reaches a certain height, stop pushing the button.
Hovering
Hovering refers to keeping the drone in midair. Holding down either the left or right triggers while pressing the throttle will allow you to hover. To tilt the drone, hold down both triggers and press the throttle.
Landing
Landing means returning the drone to earth safely. To land, release the throttle and tilt the controller downward toward the ground. The drone will slow down and eventually land.
You can fly your drone if you are comfortable with it. You must be careful not that your drone crashes into anything.
Two options are available if you plan to do aerial photography. You can either rent or buy a large camera package that includes a stabilizer and gimbal, or you could purchase a more expensive camera package.
The first option is great for those who plan to film a video or film. It gives you full control over the final shots. The second option will require you to pay more for the pilot and make you more dependent on him.
What happens when you want to make sure that your shot looks flawless even though it's not your camera? This is where drones come into play.
A drone can be described as a tiny, unmanned aircraft that can fly independently and take photos and videos without being directed by its operator.
They are versatile and can fly close to structures and buildings to capture photos or film footage. They can also fly low over crowds to capture pictures of people.
Drones are extremely useful for aerial photography as well as videography. You can also use them to market your business by creating amazing visuals that don't require much manpower or equipment.
These can be easily placed in strategic areas to capture breathtaking imagery. They can be flown remotely which makes them simple to operate.
One example is hiring drones for weddings. These wedding photographers can take amazing photos of the bride and groom while their drones fly above the ceremony location.
They can also fly them directly to the guests to capture family portraits. To capture breathtaking views of the venue, they can fly them through reception areas.
These types of activities are ideal for creating promotional material or event coverage. Drones can also be used to make short films. To show clients why you are better than theirs, you could use one.
These are all reasons drones have become increasingly popular in aerial photography and videography. A drone may be the perfect tool for professional photographers.
Drones have many uses, from aerial photography to filming movies or delivering packages. But what is it that makes drones such a useful tool? Drones are now very popular for two reasons. They are versatile tools. There are thousands of ways to use drones. You can use them for almost every task that you would normally use a camera to accomplish. They are also easy to operate. A quadcopter is very simple to operate if it has been flown before.
Drones also have the ability to capture stunning images. A drone can easily capture stunning photos of places you wouldn't usually go. These photos include remote areas where you might be in dangerous situations.
Drones are so easy to operate, so anyone can learn how to pilot one quickly. Once you learn the basics, you will be able to use your drone to capture amazing photos from anywhere you happen to be. You can check out our drone line if this interests you.
Yes. It's something we have been doing for years. We have been taking photos at night for many decades.
There's one problem. Night photography requires specialist equipment. You can't do it with a camera that costs less then $10k.
The wavelengths of light that bounce back from objects when they are hit by light can vary.
These wavelengths merge to form white light at long distances from source.
This is why you can still see colors in the distance even though the sun may be millions of kilometers away.
Instead, light reflects narrow bands of wavelengths when it strikes objects that are close to the source. These wavelengths bounce back directly to us without any overlap.
This means that objects appearing brighter are closer together. This is how objects glow when exposed to black light.
The energy that an object absorbs will determine how much light is reflected. So when light hits an object, it may reflect more blue light than red light.
The human eye is more sensitive to blue light than objects, so objects appear bluer when they are viewed under blacklight.
So what does this have to do with drones? If you want to photograph something dark like a forest or cave, you will need a very bright source of light.
An ordinary lamp won't be powerful enough to illuminate the entire scene. It will only give you a shadowed image and nothing else.
A strobe will give you a great shot. A small flashgun is better than a big one, as you don't need it.
Because they produce flashes that are so rapid, these lights are often called speedlights.
Stroboscopic means that the light pulses across the screen. The higher the speed, the better the picture.
We won't cover how to set-up a Speedlight. But you can find many tutorials online.
We will tell you that to capture a clear picture, you must ensure that the subject is illuminated evenly.
The beam should be aimed at a 45° angle in order to achieve this. You can adjust the light's intensity by moving the flashgun's head.
Once you have chosen the best setting, hold your gun steady while you press the shutter release.
Press the shutter once more, just before the flashlight reaches the subject. This will set off the flashgun to start a second burst.
While the first burst illuminates the subject, the second one will capture the moment after the first burst has passed.
This results in a continuous exposure that records both bursts and steady light.
Now that we know how to capture images during the daylight, let's learn how to do night photography.
So far I have covered all you need to know about taking night photos.
The color balance is the last thing we need to address.
Many people believe that images taken at night are too dark.
It's true. But it also applies to daytime photographs.
It doesn't really matter if you take photos at dawn or dusk, the camera will always capture a darker image.
Here are some tips for great drone photos
