They can be used for just about any task you might use a regular camera for. Secondly, they are very easy to operate. A quadcopter is very simple to operate if it has been flown before.

Drones can also capture incredible images. Drones can capture amazing photos in places that you might not normally go. These photos include remote areas where you might be in dangerous situations.

Can drones be used to take night pictures?

Answer: Yes. But it's been a long-standing tradition. For decades, we've been taking photos at night.

But there's a catch. Night photography requires sophisticated equipment. You can't do it with a camera that costs less then $10k.

When light strikes an object, it bounces back in various wavelengths.

These wavelengths merge to form white light at long distances from source.

This is why our eyes can see colors even though the sun is millions of miles away.

However, when light strikes an object near its source, it reflects within a narrow band wavelengths. These wavelengths bounce back directly to us without any overlap.

This means that objects are brighter if they are closer together. This is how objects glow when exposed to black light.

How much energy the object absorbs affects how much light is reflected. So when light hits an object, it may reflect more blue light than red light.

The human eye is more sensitive to blue light than objects, so objects appear bluer when they are viewed under blacklight.

What does all this have to do about drones? You need a bright light source if you want to photograph dark objects, such as caves or forests.

A normal lamp won't provide enough light to illuminate the entire scene. You will get a shadowed image, nothing more.

A strobe will give you a great shot. It's not practical to have a bulky flashgun around, so it's best to get a small one.

Speedlights are also known for their flashes of light that create a stroboscopic effect.

You can see the light pulse across your screen when we say "stroboscopic". The better the quality of the image, the faster it is.

We won't be discussing how to set up Speedlights here. But there are plenty of tutorials online.

We will tell that it is important to have a bright and even lighting source in order to capture clear images.

The beam should be aimed at a 45° angle in order to achieve this. The flashgun can be moved to adjust the intensity of the light.

Once you've found the perfect setting, keep the gun steady and press the shutter release button.

Press the shutter once more, just before the flashlight reaches the subject. This will trigger the flashgun to fire another burst of light.

The subject will be illuminated by the first burst. The second burst will capture that moment.

This results in a continuous exposure that records both bursts and steady light.

Now that you're comfortable taking photos during the day let's get to night photography.

So far, I have told you everything you need to know about photographing things at night.

The color balance is the last thing we need to address.

Most people assume that any images taken at night will look too dark.

This is true even for daytime images.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re shooting at dawn or at dusk. The camera will always record a darker shot.

How do I fly my drone?

It takes practice to fly a drone. It takes time to learn how to fly drones. We recommend that you practice indoors, or close to your house, for beginners.

You will need to be able to perform three skills when learning to fly a drone. These are taking off, hovering, and landing.

Take Off

Simply lift the drone in the air to take off. Press the button on your controller to cause the drone to move upwards. Stop pushing the button when the drone reaches a desired height.

Hovering

Hovering refers to keeping the drone in midair. To hover, hold down the right or left trigger while pressing on the throttle. You can move the drone by tilting the controller by holding down both triggers.

Landing

Landing refers to returning the drone safely to Earth. To land, release the throttle. Then tilt the controller toward the ground. This will cause the drone to slow down and eventually land.

If you feel confident flying your drone, then take it outside. Be careful not to crash into any object.

Tips to capture great drone shots
