I’m the guy behind Prime Photography, LLC and more importantly, the guy behind the camera. I decided to start Prime Photography so that I could share my work with others and help them create the perfect shot or capture it candidly! Photography and Videography have always been passions of mine. I enjoy utilizing drones to present a different perspective. My passion for drones and aerial photography drove me to get my FAA Certified Drone Pilot Certificate. I contributed as a drone operator for the Netflix show "Outlast" shot in Alaska.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulates drone flights. Local laws could also be applicable to drone flights. For information on drone flying regulations in your state, contact the transportation department.
The FAA requires drone owners to obtain a license in almost all cases. Guidelines for licensing have been established by the FAA. These guidelines are available for more information.
In some states, drone owners must register their drones with government. Check out our Guide to Drone Registration for more information.
Drones can be used to take amazing aerial photos. They can capture video footage from above and also take photos. But drones also come in handy when surveying land and taking measurements.
These devices are often used commercially to map large areas, or inspect construction sites. They can also be used for other purposes than business.
Drones provide entertainment value for friends and families. You can fly these drones in many ways and discover new places. Drones also make it easy to take photos and video of special events.
Drones can be used in a variety of ways. To learn how to make the most of your drone, read on.
There are many ways you can start taking photos with a drone. You can start by buying a drone kit. It will come with everything you need in order to get started. They cost $200 to $500, depending upon which model you choose.
Other options include building your drone. It's possible to make a drone that takes decent photos and videos, even though it can be complicated.
If you are interested in building your drone, we recommend you begin with a quadcopter. As found on conventional helicopters, a quadcopter has four rotors (or propellers) instead of two.
A quadcopter is simpler to assemble than a helicopter. It is also easier to transport and purchase.
First, select the right components. Motors, batteries and controllers are all required. Pick the correct size, weight and type.
Next, you will need to choose which type of controller you want. There are many types of controllers available. A built-in camera is an option, as you don’t need to attach a separate device. We recommend buying one.
Once you have selected the correct parts, it's time to assemble your drone. A preassembled kit is a great option to save time and make things simpler. If you would prefer to build your drone yourself, there are a few things you need to do.
Step 1: Attach the battery pack
To start building your quadcopter you'll first need to connect it to the motor. To start, remove the cover from the battery pack. Slide the battery into its place.
Step2: Connect the motors
Next, you'll need to install the motors in the appropriate slots. Each motor needs to be installed in its respective slot. When mounting the motors, ensure they face forward and are parallel to the frame.
Step 3: Install your propeller
Last, attach the propellers and frame. Place them at an equal distance.
Now it's time to test your new drone. If there is no movement when the engine turns on, check that the propellers point forward. You should also make sure there is no obstruction between the propellers.
Drones have been a very useful tool in capturing stunning shots of nature. Drones are perfect for both close-up shots and stunning photos of wildlife like butterflies and birds.
You can use drones in the most beautiful places: mountains, deserts. Many drone enthusiasts capture stunning views of their local areas and other attractions.
It is a good idea to shoot at night so that the lights can illuminate the surrounding area. This allows you to see new places. Also, you can shoot in different seasons, particularly winter when snow covers the ground.
A photographer can make more than $10k per gig, depending on how much time he/she travels and where he/she photographs. For those who shoot in remote locations such as forests and national parks, the hourly rate could be between $20-30.
An average person is paid $15-$25 an hr in retail. That means you could fly drones for $50-$75 if that's what you desire. There are other opportunities to make more. Most drone pilots fly for companies that require them travel throughout the country, or internationally.
Depending on how long you fly and how far you travel, you can expect to pay $100-$300 per flight. It can quickly add up, but if your passion is photography and flying, this may be worth it.
You need to practice flying a drone. It takes time to learn how to fly drones. For beginners, we recommend practicing indoors or close to home.
There are three essential skills that you need to know in order to fly a Drone. These are hovering, landing, and taking off.
Take off
Simply lift the drone in the air to take off. To do this, press the button on the controller until the drone starts moving upward. Once the drone is at a certain height stop pressing the button.
Hovering
Hovering is a way to keep the drone still in midair. To hover, hold down the right or left trigger while pressing on the throttle. To tilt the drone, hold down both triggers and press the throttle.
Landing
Landing refers to returning the drone safely to Earth. To land, release the throttle and tilt the controller downward toward the ground. This will cause your drone to slow down until it lands.
You can fly your drone if you are comfortable with it. Make sure you don't crash into anything.
When making time-lapses, there are two main types of cameras commonly used - DSLRs (Digital Single Lens Reflex), which are generally more expensive than point-and-shoot digital cameras.
DSLR cameras produce images that are more high-quality due to how light enters them. Videography is not as easy because you need to manually focus and adjust the exposure.
It is easier for beginners to use point and shoot cameras such as those made of GoPro. However, videos with lower resolutions look grainy.
A consumer drone is the best camera to time-lapse. These small flying robots make a great alternative to expensive professional drones.
A drone is a remotely controlled aircraft that can fly autonomously and without human intervention. A drone generally uses one propeller to fly. Quadcopter drones could have multiple propellers.
Drones can be used to capture cinematic footage from a bird's-eye view. A gimbal stabilizer can be added to drones for smooth handheld footage.
For a time-lapse effect, you can start recording while your drone hovers above the subject. If the sun doesn't directly over the subject, the sky won't look dark during the shot.
The aperture and shutter speed can be adjusted to create the desired effect. For example, if you're filming a sunset, the shutter speed could be set to 30 seconds while the aperture is wide open to let in as much natural light as possible.
The opposite approach should be used for night shots. To reduce light entering the camera's sensor, set the shutter speed at 1 second. This produces bright images with details clearly visible.
