4 weeks ago I took off to get some aerial footage when I noticed a bird circling below the drone, gradually getting higher. After the first close call I went higher and into sports mode, moved about 50 metres away and went for a quick decent with the bird following. He took one final swoop before I landed safe and sound.
I don't think it would have attacked the drone as it wasn't a bird of prey, but you can never be too careful.

How do I fly my drone

Practice is key to flying a drone. Even though drones are very stable compared to regular aircraft, it takes time for pilots to gain experience. For beginners, we recommend practicing indoors or close to home.

When learning how to fly a drone, you'll need to master three basic skills. These are taking off, hovering, and landing.

Take Off

To take off, simply lift the drone into the sky. Press the button on your controller to cause the drone to move upwards. After the drone reaches an appropriate height, release the button.

Hovering

Hovering allows the drone to stay in mid-air. To hover, press and hold the left or the right triggers. To tilt the drone, hold down both triggers and press the throttle.

Landing

Landing is returning the drone safely back to earth. To land, release the throttle and tilt the controller downward toward the ground. The drone will slow down and eventually land.

If you feel confident flying your drone, then take it outside. Be careful not to crash into any object.

How To

How to Make a Time-Lapse with a Drone

The two most common types of camera used to make time-lapses are DSLRs (Digital Single Lens Reflex) which are typically more expensive that point-and–shoot digital cameras.

Because of the way light enters a DSLR camera, it tends to produce higher quality images. They are not ideal for video because they require manual focus, exposure and exposure settings.

Point-and-shoot cameras, such as those made by GoPro, are easier to operate for beginners. However, the lower resolution means videos look grainy.

Consumer drones are the best choice for time-lapse photography. These small flying robots offer a cheaper alternative to professional drones.

A drone is an autonomous remote-controlled aircraft that can fly without the need for human intervention. A drone generally uses one propeller to fly. Quadcopter drones could have multiple propellers.

A drone can not only capture aerial footage but also cinematic shots with a bird’s-eye view. To capture smooth handheld footage, drones can be outfitted with a stabilizer.

For a time-lapse effect, you can start recording while your drone hovers above the subject. If the sun is not directly overhead, the sky will not appear dark during the shot.

To achieve the desired effect you can adjust your shutter speed and aperture. For example, you could set your shutter speed to 30 seconds for a sunset shot and keep the aperture wide open in order to capture as much natural daylight as possible.

For night shots, the opposite approach would be taken. To reduce light entering the camera's sensor, set the shutter speed at 1 second. This produces a bright image that makes details visible.
