Buying new gear is always a risk, will it be the solution we hoped for, or will we regret it. Expensive is not always better. In this video I give my first unbiased impressions of my new acquisition, the Fujifilm GFX100s.

I take it out close to home and photograph some little frozen cascades, and some beautiful backlit forest scenes.

Do I regret it?

Frequently Asked Questions

How much money do drone photographers make?

Photographers can earn more than $10k depending on how long they fly and where they shoot. You could make as much as $20-30 per hour if you are able to shoot in remote areas like national parks and forests.

An average person is paid $15-$25 an hr in retail. That means you could fly drones for $50-$75 if that's what you desire. There are still many ways to make even more. Most drone pilots fly for companies that require them travel throughout the country, or internationally.

The cost of a flight can vary depending on how much time you spend flying and how far you travel. You might find it worthwhile if flying is something you enjoy and you also love taking photos.

What are the disadvantages of drone photography?

Drone photography offers a unique way to capture photos and video. There are downsides to flying a small plane.

Drone flying is expensive. It could cost you hundreds, or even thousands of dollars depending on the drone that you buy.

A drone pilot must be trained and certified. This means that you will need to invest your time and money in order to learn how to safely fly them.

Safety is another issue. Drones are inherently dangerous because they require constant maintenance and repair. A drone that is not controlled properly can cause serious injury to someone or damage property.

You might find that you spend more time operating a drone than actually capturing photographs or recording footage. Additionally, your drone may not be able to fly in the airspace you have.

Some local governments limit where you can fly your unmanned aircraft vehicle. For example, you cannot fly above 400 feet or within five miles of airports, stadiums, hospitals, prisons, schools, nuclear power plants, dams, or any military bases.

Drones may not be for everyone. People feel nervous about flying drones because they fear that they will crash into the ground or fall from the sky. Some fear they might hit an object or another person.

If flying a drone is not something you are comfortable with, you might want to stick to traditional aerial photography techniques and videography.

What kind of drones do professional pilots use?

Drones offer amazing opportunities for aerial photography. Drones can be used to capture images and record video footage from the sky. They can also be used to survey land and take measurements.

These devices are often used for commercial purposes such as mapping large areas or checking construction sites. However, there are plenty of uses for them beyond business applications.

Drones, for example, can be a great way to entertain friends and families. You have many options to fly these machines, and even explore new areas. Drones also make it easy to take photos and video of special events.

Drones can be used in a variety of ways. To learn how to make the most of your drone, read on.

Can drones capture night shots?

The answer to that question is yes. But we've been doing it for years now. We've been taking pictures at night for decades.

But there is a catch. Night photography requires specialized equipment. Any camera under $10k is not capable of night photography.

A series of wavelengths are created when light hits an object.

These wavelengths merge to form white light at long distances from source.

This is how our eyes are able to see colors even when the sun is miles away.

On the contrary, when light strikes an object close to its source, it reflects in a narrow band of wavelengths. These wavelengths bounce directly back to us and do not overlap.

This means that objects appearing brighter are closer together. This is why objects appear to glow under black light.

The energy that an object absorbs will determine how much light is reflected. So when light hits an object, it may reflect more blue light than red light.

The human eye is more sensitive to blue light than objects, so objects appear bluer when they are viewed under blacklight.

So what does this have to do with drones? If you want to photograph something dark like a forest or cave, you will need a very bright source of light.

An ordinary lamp won't be powerful enough to illuminate the entire scene. It will only create a shadowed scene.

A strobe is better for taking great pictures. A small flashgun is better than a big one, as you don't need it.

These lights are known as speedlights because they produce flashes of light so fast that they create a stroboscopic effect.

You can see the light pulse across your screen when we say "stroboscopic". The better the picture, the faster the rate.

We won't be discussing how to set up Speedlights here. There are many tutorials on the internet.

We will tell, for clear pictures, that you need to ensure that the subject is evenly illuminated.

For this to happen, aim the beam at 45°. You can adjust the flashgun's intensity by moving its head.

Once you have found the right setting, hold the gun steady while pressing the shutter release button.

Once the flash has reached the subject's area, press the shutter yet again. This will cause the flashgun's flash to go off again, causing it to send out another blast of light.

The subject will be illuminated by the first burst. The second burst will capture that moment.

The result is continuous exposure, where both bursts are recorded.

Now you know how to take pictures during the day, let's move on to night photography.

So far I have covered all you need to know about taking night photos.

There's one more thing to be covered: the color balance.

Most people assume that all images taken at nights will be too dark.

It's true. But it also applies to daytime photographs.

It doesn't matter whether you're taking pictures at dawn or dusk; the camera will always record a darker image.

Is it okay to fly a drone at night.

Drones are becoming more popular every day. Drones not only provide incredible aerial shots of homes and businesses but also allow for the delivery of goods and surveillance of large areas. However, there are still very few regulations surrounding the use of drones. They have been banned in some US states while others have limited their use.

Drones that are flown during daylight hours are quite safe. However, night-time operation can pose dangers. The safety of you and other pilots is at risk when flying drones at night. This is due to the difficulty of spotting hazards and obstacles. A pilot's mistakes could lead to an accident.

Drones are rapidly becoming more popular. Therefore, it is important to learn how to safely operate them. There are currently two types of drones available: fixed-wing as well as rotary-wing. Fixed-wing drones generally have smaller wings and are easier to control than rotary models. A fixed-wing model typically has four propellers whereas a model with a rotary wing has only one.

To avoid potential accidents, you should become familiar with your local laws and ensure that your drone is always within your reach. Also, make sure that your drone has lights. This makes it easier for you to see potential dangers. If you intend to photograph, it is important to protect your lens. You should also wear protective goggles if you fly your drone.

Night flying drones poses many dangers. These include collisions with power lines or trees and even buildings. Drones can also get lost or fall out the sky. Therefore, you must keep your drone away from obstructions and stay close to the ground. Drones also are susceptible to sudden weather changes or wind gusts. These factors could disrupt the drone's flight or cause it to crash into land.

Drones are becoming increasingly popular. But they pose potential health risk. For example, the noise emitted by these devices can affect hearing and cause headaches. A drone's vibrations can cause physical and emotional damage. You could also face legal action and fines for flying drones without an operator licence.

These guidelines will help you avoid any drone accident. You must keep your drone within your direct line of sight when flying it. If you are flying near airports, make sure that you obey any restrictions imposed by airport authorities. Flying your drone over water increases the risk of a collision.

Which drone is best for photography

Drones are an exciting technology that can be used for many purposes. These include aerial photography, filming movies, and even delivery of packages. What is the secret to drones being such a useful tool for us? Drones are very popular because of two main reasons. Firstly, they are incredibly versatile tools. Drones can be used for thousands of purposes. You can use them for almost every task that you would normally use a camera to accomplish. They are also very simple to operate. If you have flown a quadcopter before, you already know how simple it is to fly a drone.

Drones also have the ability to capture stunning images. A drone can easily capture stunning photos of places you wouldn't usually go. These include remote locations where you may be exposed to danger.

Drones have a simple operation, so anyone can fly them. Once you've mastered the basics you can fly your drone and take stunning photos no matter where it takes you. So if you are interested in taking better photographs, check out our drone range today.

Is a drone worth the money?

A great product is the most important thing if you want to start your own business. If you plan to promote your business, make sure you have a great product.

Most photographers aren't selling their work. They're trying to convince someone else to buy their stuff instead of convincing themselves to do it.

If you are running your own company, it won't make sense to wait around for others. You will have the ability to find customers today.

This means that you will need to tell a compelling story to convince them why they should choose your products over others.

It is also necessary to develop a marketing strategy. But even after you've done all that, you still might fail because you haven't figured out how to price your products correctly.

It is possible to decide to charge too high. Or you may decide to charge too little. You're likely to make a mistake regardless of which way you go.

To avoid these mistakes, you need to start thinking like a businessman. You don't have to become a billionaire. This means you have to learn how to value time, money, effort.

Also, you must develop strategies to measure your business' success.

Once you are comfortable with pricing, it is possible to focus on building the most effective product. A product that makes financial and creative sense.

A product that solves your problems and gives you real benefits.

One that is distinct from the rest.

Once you've finished building the product, launch it. Your brand will be built.

You can take aerial photos with your drone. It will allow you to get started as an amateur photographer. You will be able to improve your skills. It will also help you to grow your business.

How To

How can I improve the quality of my drone photos?

A drone picture is a great way to capture an amazing image. If done correctly, the results can be even better than photos taken with a DSLR.

You can still improve the image quality. You should make sure that your settings are appropriate for the model you are photographing.

There are many apps and tools available that will help you to edit your photos once they have been taken. Adobe Photoshop Lightroom allows you to import multiple files simultaneously and edit each one individually.

You can also crop and enhance individual parts of your image. This includes cropping out unwanted objects and changing lighting and contrast.

Snapseed also offers basic editing tools such as cropping or brightness adjustments and color correcting.

Post-processing is all about ensuring your final product looks professional.

This means that you need to know how to set up your camera properly and how best to position yourself.

You must also ensure that your lens settings are correct. For example, if shooting landscapes, go for a longer focal point (e.g. 200mm), but if you are shooting close-ups (e.g. 50mm), you can choose a shorter focal.

Finally, you should learn how to shoot RAW because it gives you greater control over what the final image looks like.

Once you've mastered these techniques, you can create stunning drone images that will turn heads.
