Kite Aerial Photography CRASH on Milos island, Greece

Watch me create some Kite Aerial Photography in Klima on the island of Milos, Greece. Photographing the village of Klima was a real challenge using my kite to lift the camera. In fact, I ended up crashing my kite into the sea! Was it worth it? Although you see my 9' Levitation Delta kite in the opening of the video, the kite that I ended up using for the Kite Aerial Photograph and subsequently crashing is my KAP Foil 3.0 kite.

What is the optimal distance for a drone's flight?

The best distance for a drone to travel is when it becomes an extension or part of you. You lose sight of the drone's physical boundaries when you view it as an independent entity.

A drone that is able to fly at a reasonable distance will allow you to be fully immersed in the surrounding environment without worrying about its next destination.

Flying close to the ground has a psychological advantage. It gives us a sense of control over our surroundings, making us feel more connected with nature.

There is also a downside. We are more likely to get wind and weather conditions from flying close to the ground than we are from flying further away. This could cause damage to the drone. How far from the ground can you fly?

It depends on the drone type you have. A good rule of thumb when filming aerial footage or landscapes is to keep your drone at least 500 feet above ground.

For example, if you are filming a cityscape, you might want to keep it at 1,000 feet. This way, you can avoid buildings and trees that would otherwise block your view.

Low-light conditions can make drones less agile. To reduce hovering time when flying in the darkness, lower the altitude.

Also, ensure the area you are flying in is clear of any obstacles such as power lines, traffic signs, or tall buildings.
