SCRUB! SpaceX officially delayed Starship launch NET November 18th.
A tiny obstacle has delayed the historic launch of Starship, SpaceX’s colossal rocket.
The second test flight of the giant vehicle, which could one day take humans to Mars, was scheduled for Friday morning (Nov. 17). But a small rock in the path of Ship 25 and Booster 9 forced SpaceX to postpone the mission.
Now, we have to wait with bated breath for another chance to witness Starship’s soaring flight.
Rumors began swirling earlier Thursday as the equipment needed to destack Starship from atop Booster 9 arrived back at the launch site and was then confirmed by Elon Musk on X that "We need to replace a grid fin actuator, so launch is postponed to Saturday".
Previously, SpaceX conducted a grid fin actuation test around 6:48 am CT morning, so that must be when they caught the issue.
The Super Heavy booster has four of these grid fins, which work like small wings, at the top of the vehicle. Grid fins are metal, mesh squares that line the top of Starship’s Super Heavy rocket booster, and they’re used to orient the booster as it heads in for a landing after flight.
In the future, SpaceX wants to land the Super Heavy booster vertically back on its launch pad for rapid reuse. Electric actuators drive the grid fins, providing the power to pivot and turn them as they receive split-second inputs from the booster's guidance system. At the time I made this report, 2nd Grid fins were replaced, and the 3rd out. The replacement appears to be all grid fins.
Within a few hours of making the decision to replace the part near the top of the Super Heavy booster stage, SpaceX's ground crew detached the bullet-shaped Starship vehicle, itself some 15 stories tall, from the top of the rocket below.
This will also give SpaceX a little more time to complete any other last-second launch flow procedures to ensure everything flows smoothly before the planned launch attempt.
However, if SpaceX is unable to launch on Saturday, they do have another opportunity on Sunday, but the weather starts coming into play on Sunday and Monday, and with Thanksgiving next week, that could also force a delay into the 27th and beyond. SpaceX is only allotted a few closures per year, and generally, around major holidays, they are unable to close the launch site.
To be fair, encountering a delay at this juncture is not surprising. Starship stands as a complex launch vehicle, boasting a total of 39 methane-burning engines, each generating approximately half a million pounds of thrust to propel both its booster and upper stages. A fully stacked Starship has also flown just once to date, on an April 20 test flight from Starbase that aimed to send the upper stage part way around Earth.
It's worth noting that this marks only the second test flight for SpaceX's colossal new rocket, the full-scale and towering 400-foot-tall Starship, representing the largest launch vehicle ever constructed.

Here are the 3 most popular drones on Amazon while they're on sale

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started with drone photography?

There are several ways to start photographing using a drone. The first is to purchase a ready-made drone set. This will include everything you need to get started. They can range from $200 to $500 depending on the model.

Another option is to build your own drone. Although it is a complicated task, you can still make something that captures decent images and videos.

A quadcopter is the best choice for anyone who wants to build their own drone. The quadcopter is similar to conventional helicopters but has four rotors (or propellers), instead of just two.

It is much easier to assemble and maintain a quadcopter than a helicopter. It is also easier to transport and purchase.

First, you'll need to choose the right parts. You will need props, motors, batteries controllers and controllers. It is important to choose the correct size and weight.

Next, you'll need to decide what controller you'd like to use. You have many choices, including joysticks and touch screens as well as remote controls. You can attach your drone to the camera with the built-in camera.

Once you've made your selections, you are ready to assemble it. Pre-assembled kits are recommended to make it easier. However, you can also build your own drone by following a few steps.

Step 1: Attach battery pack

You'll need to connect the battery pack to the motor to start building your quadcopter. First, remove the cover plate from the bottom of the battery pack. After that, slide in the battery.

Step 2: Connect the motors

Next, place the motors in their appropriate slots. Each motor should be installed in its own slot. When installing motors, ensure that they face forward while remaining perpendicular with the frame.

Step 3: Install your propeller

Finally, you'll need to attach the propellers to the frame. Make sure they are at the same distance apart.

Now it's time to test your new drone. If the engine does not move, ensure that the propellers are facing forward. You should also make sure there is no obstruction between the propellers.

Which drone is the best for photography?

Drones have many uses, from aerial photography to filming movies or delivering packages. But what is it that makes drones such a useful tool? Drones have two main advantages. They are versatile and easy to use. There are thousands of uses for drones. They can be used for just about any task you might use a regular camera for. Secondly, they are very easy to operate. If you have flown a quadcopter before, you already know how simple it is to fly a drone.

Amazing images are another reason drones are so useful. A drone can easily capture stunning photos of places you wouldn't usually go. These are remote areas that could lead to dangerous situations.

Drones have a simple operation, so anyone can fly them. Once you learn the basics, you will be able to use your drone to capture amazing photos from anywhere you happen to be. Check out our drone collection if you want to take better photographs.

Can drones take pictures at night?

Answer: Yes. We've been doing this for many years. Since the 1970s, we have been taking photographs at night.

There is one catch. Night photography requires specialist equipment. Any camera under $10k is not capable of night photography.

When light hits an object, it bounces back in a series of wavelengths.

These wavelengths overlap and combine to form white light at very long distances from the source.

This is why you can still see colors in the distance even though the sun may be millions of kilometers away.

Instead, light reflects narrow bands of wavelengths when it strikes objects that are close to the source. These wavelengths bounce back straight to us, without overlapping.

This means that objects appearing brighter are closer together. This is why objects appear to glow under black light.

The energy an object absorbs determines how much light it reflects. So when light hits an object, it may reflect more blue light than red light.

Blue light is the most visible to the human eye, so objects will appear more blue if they are seen under black light.

So what does this have to do with drones? If you want to photograph something dark like a forest or cave, you will need a very bright source of light.

An ordinary lamp won't be powerful enough to illuminate the entire scene. It will give you only a shadowed picture and nothing else.

If you want a good picture, you'll need to use a strobe instead. It's not practical to have a bulky flashgun around, so it's best to get a small one.

Speedlights are also known for their flashes of light that create a stroboscopic effect.

You can see the light pulse across your screen when we say "stroboscopic". The faster the rate, the better quality of the picture.

This tutorial will not cover how to install a Speedlight. But there are plenty of tutorials online.

We will tell you that to capture a clear picture, you must ensure that the subject is illuminated evenly.

The beam should be aimed at a 45° angle in order to achieve this. You can adjust the light's intensity by moving the flashgun's head.

Once you have set the setting that is right for you, hold the gun steady as the shutter release button is pressed.

Just before the flashlight reaches your subject, you can press the shutter button again. This will cause the flashgun's flash to go off again, causing it to send out another blast of light.

The first burst will illuminate the subject. However, the second burst will capture the moment after it has passed.

The end result is a continuous exposure with both bursts light and recorded.

Now you know how to take pictures during the day, let's move on to night photography.

I've covered everything you need about night photography.

There's one more thing to be covered: the color balance.

Most people assume that all the images taken at night will be too dark.

That's true, but the same applies to daytime photos.

The camera will always record darker images regardless of whether you are taking photos at dawn and dusk.

Is a drone worth the money?

If you're serious in starting your own business, it's essential to have a great product. If you want to make a name for yourself, you need to have a great product.

Problem with many photographers is that they don't sell themselves. Instead of convincing others to buy their stuff they're trying convince them.

But when you're running your own company, you won't be able to afford to wait for someone else to permit you. You will need to get out there and find customers immediately.

This means you need to tell your customers compelling reasons why they should purchase your products.

Also, you will need to create a strategy for marketing these products. But even after you've done all that, you still might fail because you haven't figured out how to price your products correctly.

There are two options. Or you may decide to charge too little. Either way, you're probably making a mistake if you don't know what you're charging.

To avoid these mistakes, you need to start thinking like a businessman. You don't have to become a billionaire. This simply means that you must learn to value your money, time and effort.

You must also develop strategies to measure the success of your company.

Once you understand the pricing of your product, you can then focus on building the best product. It should be a product that can make sense creatively and financially.

It solves problems, and it provides real benefits.

One that is distinct from the rest.

You'll be ready to launch your product once you've created it. Now you are ready to build your business.

It doesn't really matter if your goal is to fly a drone or not. It will make it easier to start your career as a photographer. It will improve your skills. It will also allow you to grow your company.

What are the laws governing drone photography?

Drone flight regulations are controlled by the Federal Aviation Administration. In addition to the FAA regulations, local laws may also apply. For information on drone flying regulations in your state, contact the transportation department.

In most cases, drone owners need to get a FAA license. The FAA has guidelines for licensing. You can learn more about these guidelines here.

In certain states, drone operators are required to register their drones at the government. Visit our Guide to Drone Registration to learn what you need to do.

How do you fly your drone?

Practice is key to flying a drone. Even though drones are very stable compared to regular aircraft, it takes time for pilots to gain experience. We recommend that you practice indoors, or close to your house, for beginners.

You will need to be able to perform three skills when learning to fly a drone. These skills include hovering, taking off and landing.

Take Off

Taking off is simply lifting the drone into the air. The button on the controller should be pressed until the drone moves upward. After the drone reaches an appropriate height, release the button.

Hovering

Hovering is when the drone stays in midair. To hover, hold down the left or right trigger while pressing the throttle. Tilt the controller to move the drone. Hold down both triggers.

Landing

Landing is the act of returning the drone safely to earth. Release the throttle and turn the controller toward the ground to land. The drone will eventually slow down, and then land.

You can fly your drone if you are comfortable with it. Make sure you don't crash into anything.

How To

What is the distance a drone can fly at?

When a drone becomes part of you, it is considered a good distance. The drone becomes an extension of you and you lose sight its physical boundaries.

A drone that is able to fly at a reasonable distance will allow you to be fully immersed in the surrounding environment without worrying about its next destination.

It also has psychological benefits. It gives us a sense of control over our surroundings, making us feel more connected with nature.

But there is a downside too. The drone could be damaged if it is flying too close to the ground. So how far away do you fly?

It all depends on what type of drone you're flying. You should aim to fly at least 500 feet above the ground if you're trying to capture aerial footage or film landscapes.

For example, if you are filming a cityscape, you might want to keep it at 1,000 feet. By doing this, you can avoid any obstructions such as trees or buildings.

Drones are more sensitive to low-light conditions. To reduce hovering time when flying in the darkness, lower the altitude.

You should also ensure that the area where you fly is free from obstructions such as traffic signs or power lines.

Also, you might consider flying during daylight instead of at nights. This allows you to avoid reflections due to street lights or shadows.

Also, consider the size and weight of the drone. The closer the drone is to the ground, the greater its size. A large quadcopter for example requires a height of at least 300 feet.

If you want some great drone footage, you should always look out for the golden hour.

This is between 3 and 6 p.m. You have the best visibility due to the direct overhead sun.

It's also known to be the "magic hour," and is ideal for capturing beautiful images.

However, you should avoid flying your drone at sunset and sunrise. These times can result in poor quality footage.

You now have all the information you need to make amazing drone videos.
