Drone photography requires more than just flying a plane. There are a lot of things you need to consider when planning and executing an effective drone shoot. The right location is key to making sure you have enough insurance to cover your aerial shoot.
The most important thing to do is check to see if you have permission. This includes finding out what restrictions apply to where and how your drone can be operated. If you find that there are restrictions, you might need to apply for a license in order to fly them.
You should also check which regulations are in place in your particular country. Some countries require drone pilot permits, while others restrict the number of flights that can be made within a certain time frame.
Not only will you need permission to fly drones but also where to safely land your drone after each flight. Many local businesses offer landing pads to rent for a fee. You will also get storage space. Or, you can buy a dedicated landing area.

Yes. But it's been a long-standing tradition. Since decades, we have been taking night shots.
There is one catch. Night photography requires specialized equipment. With a camera costing less than $10k, there is no way to do night photography.
Light bounces back when it hits an object in a series wavelengths.
These wavelengths can be combined to form white light over very long distances.
This is why we can see colors even though it is thousands of miles away.
The opposite is true. When light strikes an object very close to its source it reflects in narrow wavelengths. These wavelengths bounce back directly to us without any overlap.
This means that objects are brighter if they are closer together. This is why objects seem to glow when they are exposed to black light.
The amount of light reflected depends on how much energy the object absorbs. Therefore, if light hits an object, it might reflect more blue than red light.
Blue light is the most visible to the human eye, so objects will appear more blue if they are seen under black light.
So what does this have to do with drones? Use a very bright light source to photograph dark places, such a forest or cave.
A normal lamp won't provide enough light to illuminate the entire scene. It will only create a shadowed scene.
You will need a strobe if you want to take great photos. You won't want to lug around a large flashgun so you will need a smaller one.
Speedlights are also known for their flashes of light that create a stroboscopic effect.
You can see the light pulse across your screen when we say "stroboscopic". The better the picture, the faster the rate.
We won't discuss how to set up a Speedlight here. However, there are numerous tutorials online.
We will tell you that to capture a clear picture, you must ensure that the subject is illuminated evenly.
To achieve this, you should aim the beam at a 45-degree angle. You can adjust light intensity by moving your flashgun's head.
Once you've found the perfect setting, keep the gun steady and press the shutter release button.
Just before the flashlight reaches your subject, you can press the shutter button again. This will fire another flashgun burst.
The first burst is the most visible, and the second captures the moment after the burst has ended.
The result is continuous exposure, where both bursts are recorded.
You now know how to take photos during the day. Let's move onto night photography.

There's one more thing to be covered: the color balance.
Most people assume that all the images taken at night will be too dark.
That's true, but the same applies to daytime photos.
It doesn't matter whether you're taking pictures at dawn or dusk; the camera will always record a darker image.
A photographer makes more than $10k per gig depending on how long he/she flies for and where he/she shoots. You could make as much as $20-30 per hour if you are able to shoot in remote areas like national parks and forests.
The average person earns between $15-$25 an hour working in retail, which means you could earn $50-$75 flying drones if you wanted to. However, there are also plenty of opportunities to earn even more. Drone pilots often fly for companies that require them cross-country or international travel.
Depending on how long you fly and how far you travel, you can expect to pay $100-$300 per flight. Although this can quickly add up, if you are passionate about photography and enjoy flying, it could be worthwhile.
The best distance for a drone to travel is when it becomes an extension or part of you. You lose sight of the drone's physical boundaries when you view it as an independent entity.
You can immerse yourself in your surroundings without worrying about the drone's next move.
It also has psychological benefits. Flying close to the ground gives you a greater sense of control and makes it easier to feel connected to nature.
But there is a downside too. We are more likely to get wind and weather conditions from flying close to the ground than we are from flying further away. This could cause damage to the drone. How far are you able to fly?
It all depends on what type of drone you're flying. You should aim to fly at least 500 feet above the ground if you're trying to capture aerial footage or film landscapes.
You might choose to film a cityscape at 1,000 feet, for instance. This will allow you to avoid obstructions like trees and buildings.
Because drones struggle in low-light conditions, this is why. If you are flying in the dark, you can reduce the time you spend hovering by lowering the altitude.
Make sure there are no obstructions like power lines, traffic signs, tall buildings, etc.
Consider flying during daylight hours instead of at night. This helps you avoid reflections caused by street lights and shadows.
You should also consider the size of your drone. The further it is from the ground the bigger the drone. A large quadcopter for example requires a height of at least 300 feet.
The golden hour is the best time to capture drone footage.
This is the time between 3 and 6 PM. You have the best visibility due to the direct overhead sun.
It is also known by the "magic hours", which makes it ideal for creating beautiful images.
However, you should avoid flying your drone at sunset and sunrise. These times can cause poor-quality footage.
