Anyone interested in a beginner stunt drone may be enticed by this sleek looking flyer from the Sharper Image that seems to merge the brand's design aesthetic into a small quadcopter.

Inside the package, you'll find the drone itself, which supposedly has a 150-foot range, as well as a 6-axis gyroscope technology that is supposed to enhance stability while in flight. It also boasts the ability for beginners to do a 360-degree stunt roll at the touch of a button on the included remote. The package also contains a large remote control - like comically large - which requires 6 batteries that aren't included, as well as a USB cable to charge the copter.

This copter is assembled in the package with the rotors already attached. At first look, you'll see that it's a sleek, black quadcopter that doesn't really look like anything else on the market. It's also roughly the size of an adult's hand. It's really good looking.

Unfortunately, the looks here are extremely deceiving. Through multiple test flights, the rotors popped off, dropping the DX-2 out of the sky while raining plastic bits all over the place. Since testing was done indoors, no pieces were lost, but more time was spent reattaching rotors than flying.

Quadcopters usually come with a bit of assembly required, and therefore a chance of user error when putting the rotors in. This was not the case. What should have been an enjoyable, beginner copter was rendered unusable, other than something pretty to look at. At an MSRP of close to $100, it really should have the kinks worked out.

That said, the brief flights that were accomplished were smooth and stable, and the auto take-off feature worked well.
