Hey friends. This fun cinematic beginner drone tutorial is about returning to the fundamentals of composition. If a beginner’s true goal is to simply get better drone footage: I encourage them to spend a bit less time on ND filters, drone settings and burning countless hours trying to get active track to work. How many hours can we spend watching videos on active track tips?!
I mentioned this analogy in the last episode: drone beginners spend much of their time on things that only affect the veneer of the footage: …motion blur, ND filters, LUTs, etc. But that’s like spending time perfecting the paint on a house….while the whole foundation of the house is crumbling. WEAK CINEMATOGRAPHY IS A WEAK FOUNDATION. Better footage is only achieved from the timeless fundamentals of composition and lighting. Spend time improving those skills. But I think most drone beginners throw up in their mouth a little when they hear the word “composition.” FPV guys have never even heard the word “composition.”
